Petr Ginz
Tsjechisch auteur
Petr Ginz was a Czech child of partial Jewish descent, born in 1928. His life was tragically cut short during the Holocaust, a period of immense persecution and suffering. As a young boy, Ginz was deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto, a transit camp where many Jews were held before being sent to other concentration camps.
Ginz's literary talents were evident even at a young age, and he kept a diary during his time in the ghetto. Although his life was brutally ended at the age of 16, when he was transferred to Auschwitz and killed in the gas chambers, his diary survived him. The diary was later published, serving as a testament to his literary abilities and a poignant reminder of the devastating loss of life during the Holocaust. Through his diary, Ginz's voice and story continue to be remembered and honored.
