Orly Levy-Abekasis is a prominent Israeli politician born in 1973. Initially, she pursued a career in modeling before transitioning to politics. Her entry into the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, occurred in 2009, where she represented the Yisrael Beiteinu party. During her tenure, she held this position until 2017, when she decided to leave the party and continue as an independent member.
Levy-Abekasis took a significant step in 2019 by forming her own political party, Gesher, with the aim of participating in the April 2019 elections. Although Gesher did not secure a seat in those elections, she successfully returned to the Knesset later that year after Gesher formed an alliance with the Labor Party for the September 2019 elections. Her political career advanced further in May 2020, when she was appointed Minister for Community Empowerment and Advancement by Prime Minister Netanyahu, marking a new role in her political journey.
