Miri Rubin

British historian (born 1956)

Miri Rubin is a British historian born in 1956, specializing in medieval and early modern history. She pursued her education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and later at the University of Cambridge, where she earned her doctorate. Her academic career was further enhanced by research fellowships at Girton College, Cambridge. Rubin's expertise lies in the social and religious history of Europe, focusing on the period between 1100 and 1500. Her research explores the complex relationships between public rituals, power dynamics, and community life during this time.

Rubin has held various academic positions throughout her career. From 1989 to 2000, she was a tutorial fellow at Pembroke College, Oxford, and also held a university lectureship and later a readership in the Faculty of History. Currently, she is a professor of medieval and early modern history at Queen Mary University of London. Through her work, Rubin continues to contribute to a deeper understanding of Europe's medieval and early modern past, shedding light on the intricate interactions between ritual, power, and community that shaped the continent's history.
