Joel Roth (rabbi)

Joel Roth is a prominent American rabbi affiliated with the Rabbinical Assembly, the central rabbinical body of Conservative Judaism. He has played a significant role in shaping Jewish law and tradition, having served as a member and chair of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards. This committee is responsible for addressing complex questions related to Jewish law and custom. Roth's expertise in this area has been influential in guiding the Conservative Jewish community.

He is the Louis Finkelstein Emeritus Professor of Talmud and Jewish Law at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York City, where he previously served as dean of the Rabbinical School. Additionally, he holds the title of Rosh Yeshiva Emeritus at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem, an institution maintained by the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism and academically affiliated with the Jewish Theological Seminary.
