Boruch Ber Leibowitz

Belarusian rabbi (1862–1939)

Boruch Ber Leibowitz was a prominent Belarusian rabbi, born in 1862, who made significant contributions to the field of Judaism. He was renowned for his exceptional Talmudic lectures, which were distinctive in their style, rooted in the method of his esteemed teacher, Chaim Soloveitchik. This approach to Talmudic study earned him great recognition and admiration within the Jewish community.

As a respected leader in Jewish education, Leibowitz went on to head two notable yeshivas: Yeshivas Knesses Beis Yitzchak in Slabodka and Kaminetz. His tenure at these institutions allowed him to impart his knowledge and teachings to numerous students, shaping the next generation of Jewish scholars. Leibowitz passed away on November 17, 1939, leaving behind a legacy as a devoted rabbi and educator, affectionately known as Reb Boruch Ber.
