Fred Neulander
American rabbi (1941–2024)
Fred Neulander was a Reform rabbi from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, who served the community in his role as a spiritual leader. Born in 1941, he was a figure in the field of Judaism, working to promote the values and principles of the faith. However, his life took a dramatic turn, leading to a conviction that would alter the course of his life.
Neulander's conviction stemmed from his involvement in the murder of his wife, Carol Neulander, in 1994, for which he was found guilty of hiring two men to carry out the crime. As a result, he was sentenced to a prison term of 30 years to life. Neulander died in 2024 while serving his sentence at New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, New Jersey, bringing an end to a life marked by both spiritual leadership and tragic circumstances.
